The best places for family photos near Denver! While Colorado is one of the most beautiful states, these are my absolute favorite locations for outdoor family pictures near Denver, Colorado. From Red rock escarpments to sweeping alpine meadows there is a perfect backdrop for your family pictures!
Want red Rocks but not the crowds at the amphitheater? South valley park!
Want a beautiful mountain view? White Ranch park!
Perhaps sandstone monuments and a meadow full of wildflowers (if we time it right!) Alderfer/3 sisters park in evergreen!
Best places for family pictures near Denver at South Valley Park, Littleton, CO
About the location: Stunning valley views and beautiful red rock formations lend a perfect “Colorado” backdrop for your family photos. South Valley Park in Littleton, CO has well-maintained paths, and clean well kept restrooms! This is why South Valley Park is why it is one of the best places for family pictures near Denver
Nearby: Chatfield Reservoir, Denver botanic gardens south campus, and Deer Creek Canyon Park are all within a 5-minute drive of this beautiful location! Explore with the family after your session.
Restaurants: Want to grab a bite to eat before or after your session? Check out the nearby cuisine! We highly recommend the pizza and garlic knots at Virgillio’s Pizza and wine bar at 10025 W San Juan Way. Littleton, CO 80127
What to bring: Sunscreen in summer, and layers in fall and winter. There isn’t much shade available at south valley park so come prepared! Water bottles are encouraged or your favorite warm beverage for the chillier mornings and evenings in fall and winter!
Pets: Dogs are allowed at South Valley Park but must be kept on a leash at all times and picked up after.

Address: 9880 W Deer Creek Canyon Rd, Littleton, CO 80127
About the location: A cute rustic barn welcomes you as you enter Hildebrand Ranch Park. From there, the sweeping meadows, Cottonwood trees along the stream, and the foothills all offer spectacular views! Making Hildebrand ranch park one of the best places for outdoor family pictures near Denver!
Nearby: Chatfield Reservoir, Denver botanic gardens south campus, Waterton Canyon, and so much more this area of Colorado offers an amazing mix of small-town fun and outdoor adventure. Waterton Canyon can be a long hike, but it is common to see deer, elk, and bighorn sheep!
Restaurant: Being just a short 15-minute drive from downtown Littleton Main street, there is a wonderful selection of restaurants to choose from. One of our favorites is Cafe Terracotta for breakfast and lunch, or for a sweet treat, try Inside Scoop Creamery at 5654 S Prince St, Littleton, CO 80120.
What to bring: As always, bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, bug spray is optional, but in spring, mosquitos can sometimes come out full force if you are near the stream.
Pets: Dogs are allowed at Hildebrand ranch park but must be kept on a leash at all times and picked up after.

About the location: Near Golden Colorado, this location is perhaps, one of my favorites, giving you an amazing assortment of views! With sweeping high prairie meadows, wildflowers in spring, mountain views, and a stunning panoramic view of the Denver valley is why it’s one of the best places for outdoor family photos near Denver!
Nearby: Golden Colorado Offers so many wonderful experiences! From Brewery tours, farmers markets, and the amazing Clear Creek White Water Park, where you can splash and play in the river (or surf!)
Restaurants: Golden offers amazing places to eat, lots and lots of them (being a college town). If we had to make a recommendation, we would suggest the delicious Bob’s Atomic Burgers for your American food fix, or for a more upscale experience the Bridgewater grill
What to bring: For summer sessions, bring your water bottles and sunscreen! For fall and winter sessions bring layers, White Ranch Park is at a higher altitude so the temps are often much cooler than they are lower in the valley!

About the location: If you love wildflowers this is the spot for springtime photos! With a rustic old barn, a large sweeping meadow with wildflowers, sandstone rock formations, and towering pine trees, this sport is wonderful for your outdoor family photography session!
Nearby: The charming downtown Evergreen is only minutes away, as well as Indian hills, Colorado. Enjoy the evergreen lake, the spillway at Evergreen Lake Dam, and all the unique shopping on evergreen’s main street!
Restaurants: Willow Creek Cafe is one of our absolute favorites! Beautiful views and delicious food, But the kids will probably like Baskin Robins best.

About the location: Washington Park is a Denver Icon and easily one of the best places for outdoor family pictures near Denver! With 2 beautiful lakes, long walking paths, mature cottonwood, and pine trees, this Denver staple is a fantastic place for your family photography session! While a busy Park year-round and limited parking (mostly on the street or in two smaller parking lots). it is still worth parking a block or two away and walking into another park. Specifically, the Washington Park boat house on the north side of the park adds a beautiful historic urban feel to your photos and allows for some fantastic views of the lake.
Nearby: Located in the heart of Denver, Washington park is close to a little bit of everything. Most importantly, it is just down the street from the Gaylord Shopping district. Featuring Clothing boutiques, great restaurants, and a tap room!
Restaurants: Featuring some amazing restaurants and a brewery and taproom! Our favorites are the Washpark Grill (seriously the best shoestring french fries in Denver!), and the beer on tap at the Home Grown Taproom is amazing!
What to bring: For summer sessions, bring your water bottles and sunscreen! For fall and winter sessions, bring layers. Washington Park is right in the heart of Denver making it much easier to predict the weather than some of the higher altitude locations!
Pets: Pets are allowed on leash at Washington park but must remain on leash and under control at all times per city ordinances. Please bring poop bags, water, and an appropriate leash (no retractables!) if you bring your pet for a photo session!

About the location: The Denver Museum Of Nature And Science sits near the Denver zoo in City Park a beautiful expanse of greenery in the heart of Denver. This makes City park a beautiful location and one of the best locations near Denver for family photos! With a beautiful lake, boat house, and a majestic view of the Denver city skyline the options are endless!
Restaurants: So many options right nearby for great restaurants we can’t begin to name them all. However, a short drive down the road to 17th st, you will find Marczyk Fine Foods! This little grocery store carries some wonderful and unique items but also boasts a FANTASTIC deli counter for handmade sandwiches.
What to bring: For the spring/Summer sessions bring sunscreen and your water bottles, for fall/winter sessions it is best to layer, it might be warm, or it might be cold!
Pets: Pets are allowed on leash in the park. please come prepared with poop bags and an appropriate leash (no retractable leashes, please!)

Address: 9950 East Gateway Drive, Highlands Ranch, CO
About the location: The Historic Highlands Ranch mansion sits on 250 acres of beautiful colorado farmland and started its historic journey in 1891 as a stone farmhouse! now with mature trees manicured lawns and gardens, this location is a perfect place for Elegant Family Photography Sessions! Plenty of parking is available, and the mansion is open to the public for self-guided tours and guided tours most days (call ahead to make sure!)
Nearby: Highlands ranch has tons to offer from parks and recreation to wonderful restaurants and entertainment.
Restaurants: After a day of exploring the Highlands Ranch Mansion, we love to sit back and relax at Mici Handcrafted Italian!
For the Kids: Tours of the mansion are available most days, and the grounds are open to enjoy! take some time to soak up the history in this fantastic ranch!
What to bring: For summer sessions, bring your water bottles and sunscreen! For fall and winter sessions bring layers. A change of outfit is welcome as well as this location has a lot to offer in a close area!
Pets: Pets are not allowed on the property so please leave them safely at home!
