Best places to take outdoor family pictures Near Denver | Littleton | Lakewood | Highlands Ranch
Colorado offers so many beautiful locations for family photography sessions but these are some of our absolute favorites! From mountain views, rolling meadows, wildflowers in spring, or beautiful red rock formations. All of our favorite locations offer something unique and beautiful for your family!
When choosing a location for your family photo session, Keep in mind things like Drivetime, traffic, and the time of day. While we are happy to have your family photo session at any time of day early morning and later evening offers the best light for your family photo experience.
South Valley Park | Littleton CO
Address: 90 S Valley Rd, Littleton, CO
About the location: Stunning valley views and beautiful red rock formations lend a perfect “Colorado” backdrop for your family photos. South Valley Park in Littleton, CO has well-maintained paths, and clean well kept restrooms!
Nearby: Chatfield Reservoir, Denver botanic gardens south campus, and Deer Creek Canyon Park are all within a 5-minute drive of this beautiful location! Explore with the family after your session.
Restaurants: Want to grab a bite to eat before or after your session? Check out the nearby cuisine! We highly recommend the pizza and garlic knots at Virgillio’s Pizza and wine bar at 10025 W San Juan Way. Littleton, CO 80127
What to bring: Sunscreen in summer, and layers in fall and winter. There isn’t much shade available at south valley park so come prepared! Water bottles are encouraged or your favorite warm beverage for the chillier mornings and evenings in fall and winter!
Pets: Dogs are allowed at South Valley Park but must be kept on a leash at all times and picked up after.
Hildebrand Ranch Park | Littleton Colorado
Address: 9880 W Deer Creek Canyon Rd, Littleton, CO 80127
About the location: A cute rustic barn welcomes you as you enter Hildebrand Ranch Park, From there the sweeping meadows, Cottonwood trees along the stream, and the foothills all offer spectacular views!
Nearby: Chatfield Reservoir, Denver botanic gardens south campus, Waterton Canyon, and so much more this area of colorado offers an amazing mix of small-town fun and outdoor adventure. Waterton Canyon can be a long hike but it is common to see deer, elk, and bighorn sheep!
Restaurant: Being just a short 15-minute drive from downtown Littleton Main street there is a wonderful selection of restaurants to choose from. One of our favorites is Cafe Terracotta for breakfast and lunch, or for a sweet treat try Inside Scoop Creamery at 5654 S Prince St, Littleton, CO 80120.
What to bring: As always bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, bug spray is optional but in spring mosquitos can sometimes come out full force if you are near the stream.
Pets: Dogs are allowed at Hildebrand ranch park but must be kept on a leash at all times and picked up after.
White Ranch Park | Golden Colorado
Address: White Ranch Park West Trailhead Belcher Hill Rd, Golden, CO 80403
About the location: Near Golden Colorado this location is perhaps, one of my favorites, giving you an amazing assortment of views! From sweeping high prairie meadows, wildflowers in spring, mountain views, and a stunning panoramic view of the Denver valley It is a perfect spot for your Family Photos!
Nearby: Golden Colorado Offers so many wonderful experiences! From Brewery tours, farmers markets, and the amazing Clear Creek White Water Park where you can splash and play in the river (or surf!)
Restaurant: Golden offers amazing places to eat, lots and lots of them (being a college town), if we had to make a recommendation we would suggest the delicious Bob’s Atomic Burgers for your American food fix, or for a more upscale experience the Bridgewater grill
What to bring: For summer sessions bring your water bottles and sunscreen! For fall and winter sessions bring layers, White Ranch Park is a higher altitude so the temps are often much cooler than they are lower in the valley!

Alderfer / 3 sisters park | Evergreen Colorado
Address: Alderfer / 3-sisters Park West Trailhead 5136 S Le Masters Rd, Evergreen, CO 80439
About the location: If you love wildflowers this is the spot for springtime photos! With a rustic old barn, a large sweeping meadow with wildflowers, sandstone rock formations, and towering pine trees, this sport is wonderful for your outdoor family photography session!
Nearby: The charming downtown Evergreen is only minutes away, as well as Indian hills, Colorado. Enjoy the evergreen lake, the spillway at Evergreen Lake Dam, and all the unique shopping on evergreen’s main street!
Restaurants: Willow Creek Cafe is one of our absolute favorites! Beautiful views and delicious food, But the kids will probably like Baskin Robins best.
What to bring: For summer sessions bring your water bottles and sunscreen! For fall and winter sessions bring layers, Alderfer / 3 Sisters Park is at a higher altitude so the temps are often much cooler than they are lower in the valley!

Washington Park | Denver Colorado
Address: Washington Park Boat House 701 S Franklin St, Denver, CO 80209
About the location: In the heart of Denver’s Wash Park Neighborhood (its namesake park!) is the beautiful Washington Park and Wash Park Boathouse. With 2 lakes and several ponds, towering Cottonwood trees, and grassy fields. You have an outdoor family photo location but with the heartbeat of the city right beside you. This is a very busy park year-round, but parking is easily found on the side streets, and dedicated parking lots. depending on the day it may be a short walk to the boathouse location!
Nearby: Denver! Restaurants, parks, shopping, you name it but our favorite is the nearby Old South Gaylord Shopping District. and Old South Pearl Street Shopping district. With cute boutiques, charming restaurants, and great coffee shops!
Restaurants: Grab a burger and fries at Wash Park Grill and stop off for a quick coffee or tea at Stella’s Coffee Haus. Truth be told we could give you recommendations for hours! the best sushi restaurant in Denver at Sushi Den or a slice of pie and a beer at Kaos Pizzaria. There is something for everyone within minutes from Wash Park!
For the Kids: Washington Park has 2 amazing playgrounds, paddle boats in the spring and summer, and water canals to splash and play in! 2 miles of paths encircle the park and are a great place to learn to ride your bike or learn how to roller skate!
What to bring: For summer sessions, bring your water bottles and sunscreen! For fall and winter sessions, bring layers. A change of outfit is welcome as well as this location has a lot to offer in a close area!
Highlands Ranch Mansion | Highlands Ranch Colorado
Address: 9950 E Gateway Dr, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126
About the location: The Historic Highlands Ranch mansion sits on 250 acres of beautiful colorado farmland and started its historic journey in 1891 as a stone farmhouse! now with mature trees manicured lawns and gardens, this location is a perfect place for Elegant Family Photography Sessions! Plenty of parking is available and the mansion is open to the public for self-guided tours and guided tours most days (call ahead to make sure!)
Nearby: Highlands ranch has tons to offer from parks and recreation to wonderful restaurants and entertainment.
Restaurants: After a day of exploring the Highlands Ranch Mansion we love to sit back and relax at Mici Hand crafted Italian!
For the Kids: Tours of the mansion are available most days and the grounds are open to enjoy! take some time to soak up the history in this fantastic ranch!

Pets: Pets are not allowed on the property so please leave them safely at home!
